It’s cold. Really cold…in Chicago around this time of year. Fortunately, that doesn’t stop the locals from continuing to explore Chicago’s dynamic culinary scene! Summer is about rooftops, and winter is about the fireplaces. Here are 3 of my favorite cozy Chicago spots!
1. Ella Elli:
OMG, Ella Elli is so romantic and chic! It’s the perfect date night spot, and also great for brunch. In fact, their “everything bagel” & cream cheese is great! I don’t eat “everything” bagels often, but when I do…it’s from here, lol. They also have great drinks and a super cozy fire place. The restaurant is in Lakeview on the Southport Street corridor. It’s worth venturing beyond downtown for this cute restaurant!
2. Elske:
As soon as you walk through the gate at the entrance of Elske, you feel transported into a Danish village. To get to the front door you walk through a patio with a roaring fireplace and benches with cozy fur blankets. Make your way inside, and the cozy, minimalist vibe will make all of your hygge dreams come true! Not sure what hygge is…here’s a great explanation. Inside in the kitchen, they cook on an open, wood-fired hearth. The food is unique among the options in the West Loop neighborhood.
3. El Che Bar:
No need to travel to South America to get a great steak! Check out El Che Bar, anArgentine inspired restaurant, where they cook the meats on a huge open flame! The fire is nestled in the back of the restaurant. For large groups there is a huge table right near the kitchen so you can stay warm and see all of the action!
